I don’t know how you feel about train stations. For me, they have always been gateways to far away places. Just like airports. But unlike going by plane, taking the train is far less about just getting there. It is an almost outdated form of travel and for me it even has some romantic touch, like a distant memory from times long gone. You know, Orient Express with Hercule Poirot solving a mystery murder.
I arrive at Zürich Main Station every day on my way to work and every day I hear the announcements. Geneva… Paris… Milan… Vienna… Hearing these announcements over and over made me think about visiting a city by train. Without check-in, security gates and all that hassle of taking the plane. Going aback to the simple old ways of travel, just going to the station, getting on the train, having a seat and then relax, look out of the window, watching the world move along and once the trip ends, arriving in the heart of the city.
it sure sounds like a good idea.
Any suggestions where I should go?
